Krug Grande Cuvee 172 Edition Champagne 750ml
Krug Grande Cuvee 172 Edition Champagne 750mL
The Krug Grande CuvĂ©e 172ᵉ Édition represents the house’s signature non-vintage blend, carefully constructed to deliver the fullest expression of Champagne possible.Â
This edition was composed around the 2016 harvest as the base year and includes reserve wines dating back to 1998. The blend is comprised of approximately 44% Pinot Noir, 36% Chardonnay and 20% Pinot Meunier.Â
The final blend brings in around 146 individual wines from 11 different years and incorporates about 42% reserve wines from the house’s library.
Krug recommends it be served between 9 °C and 12 °C to best appreciate its layers of flavour.Â
Tasting Notes
Appearance: Pale golden with fine, persistent bubbles and a clarity that suggests both maturity and freshness.
Nose: A complex bouquet: white flowers, dried and citrus fruits (lemon, apple, pear), marzipan, hazelnut, nougat, brioche, and subtle spice/menthol notes. Palate: Elegant and poised — apple and citrus zest upfront, then almond skin, brioche, roasted nut, fresh bread crust, and a saline mineral backbone. The structure is refined, with a lively acidity and a textured mid-palate.
Finish: Long and layered — toasted nuts, lingering citrus, a hint of honeyed richness, and an enduring mineral/sea-shell whisper. This is a Champagne that continues to evolve in the glass.Â
