Ardnamurchan ‘The Midgie’ 2025 Release is a playful and characterful single malt from Scotland's remote west coast distillery, crafted as a tribute to the notorious Highland midge—small in size but big in presence. This vibrant release showcases a blend of 75% unpeated and 25% peated spirit (distilled from 2017–2019), matured in a carefully balanced mix of 50% ex-American bourbon barrels, 48% ruby port barriques, and 2% sherry casks.

Bottled at approximately 48% ABV, unchill-filtered and with natural color, this limited-edition dram delivers a layered sensory experience that reflects Ardnamurchan’s maritime Highland character, elevated with sweet, smoky, and savoury notes, all with a cheeky nod to Scotland’s tiniest local legend.

Tasting Notes 

Nose (Aroma):

• Savory and intriguing, with gammon ham and torched pineapple, prunes dipped in salt, strawberry jam on a salty cracker, almond oil, coconut macaroon, and a hint of spearmint.

Palate (Taste):

• A unique combination of salt-baked pear, meadowsweet, wildflowers, lemon thyme, sultanas, cherrywood embers, cocoa powder, and pink peppercorns.

Finish:

• Persistent and delightful, with a gentle puff of buoyant smoke, Himalayan pink salt, red currant cordial, and a compelling interplay of sweet and salty—dry and lingering.
